Top Three Reasons WHY You Need An “A” Team

Jim Rohn once said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Think about that for a moment. Who do you spend the most time with in your roster of contacts?

Do you desire more success in your career? How successful are your top 5?

Do you desire greater health? How healthy are they?

Do you desire a greater level of financial freedom? How free are they?

We instinctively learn from those with whom we surround ourselves. That’s why it’s not wise to be the smartest person in the room, at least not if your aim is to learn and grow.

Reason number one why you need an “A” Team:

You need to surround yourself with those who have climbed higher than you and can show you the path. Let’s take Mount Everest as an example. Known as the world’s tallest mountain, many people list climbing it on their bucket list. More often than not, they hire a Sherpa to assist in the ascent. Sherpa’s have a strong work ethic and a superior physiological adaptation to high altitudes. They work as porters to assist in carrying necessary equipment. But their most important role is to guide the team up the mountain via the most safe and efficient path. Could you climb Mount Everest without a Sherpa? Maybe. Would you hit obstacles that a Sherpa could have helped you to avoid? Most likely.

When you are ready to step outside your comfort zone you’ll want to have a mentor. “Travel” to areas that aren’t your strengths with your “mental Sherpa” by your side.

Reason number two why you need an “A” Team: You need an accountability partner to help you stay on course.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. When encountering a major obstacle the human mind often wants to retreat, throw in the towel, give up. It’s important to have someone on your team who will hold you accountable to your goals. This person will remind you why you first set the goal. They will help you to push past any roadblock that stands in the way of your ultimate destination.

Reason number three why you need an “A” Team: You can borrow their belief.

My biggest accomplishments came from someone believing in me before I believed in myself. They saw my capabilities and encouraged me to go after my dreams. When you see yourself through another person’s eyes the view can be very different. When you can’t see your own potential it helps to have someone else see it for you.

So who is on YOUR “A” Team? I’d like to hear from you. Post a comment and let me know how your team is helping you to reach new heights in your life.
